Scholarship & Professional Development Grant Guidelines

Scholarship and professional development grant opportunities are available after selection by Rare Earth Studio for highly motivated individuals who wish to further their education in the field of Gems and Jewelry, but who are unable to do so for financial reasons.

General Eligibility Requirements: 

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must be a resident for a minimum of 2 years, from the geographic region from where the scholarship funds have originated.
  • Must have a commitment to the Gem & Jewelry Industry through employment and/or study program.
  • Must have a letter of recommendation from someone in the jewelry industry or from a previous employer, high school instructor, college or university professor or from director of any referring agency.
  • Complete a Rare Earth Studio Scholarship Application (download here).

Submit an essay reflecting your perspective of how further education in the Gem & Jewelry Industry will improve your quality of life.

Types of scholarship available:

  1. Full Individual Scholarship(100%) will depend on the income producing ability of the family or the individual

  2. Partial Individual (maximum 60%) will depend on the income producing ability of the family or the individual.

  3. Corporate (maximum 100%) depending on guidelines provided by the company or organization. 

General Eligibility Requirements for Professional  Development Grants:

Deserving recipients of professional development grants will be:

At least 20 years of age who provide a letter of referral from employer or mentor in Jewellery industry

Must be a United States Virgin Islands resident for at least 2 years

Currently involved in the jewelry industry and wanting to further their education

Complete a Rare Earth Studio Professional Development Grant Application

Submit an essay reflecting your perspective of how further education in the Gem & Jewelry Industry will improve your quality of life.

Types of Professional Development Grants available:

  1. Full Professional Development Grant (100%)  dependent on the income producing ability of the individual
  2. Partial Professional Development Grant (maximum 50%) dependent on the income producing ability of the individual.
  3. Corporate (maximum 100%) depending on guidelines provided by the company or organization. 

The Caribbean Islands Education foundation will match the amount of scholarship and professional grant donated by the Corporation which will not exceed 50% of the cost of the class. The Corporation providing the other 50% match will have the opportunity of naming the scholarship
